Is there any way to attach a note to an association or any other type of connector

Try Right-Click "Attach Note or Constraint"  ;)

It is normal in most applications to select an object and using Right-Click to get a list of actions one can do in that context (hence "Context menu").   However, given EA's somewhat unique approach to UI design, I can see why this may not have been obvious...  :)
