Lost my first Class diagram
« on: August 16, 2005, 11:33:51 am »
I am a beginning user, working with a registered corporate edition of EA.  While I am generally familiar with UML, I need help learning how to use EA.

My present dilemma is this: I started working on my first project, created my first class diagram with four classes in it.  I saved this project and closed EA, just to make sure I could come back and resume my work.  But now when I start EA again by double-clicking on my EAP file, I can’t figure out how to get it to show me the class diagram I created earlier.  I have the Start Page before me, and all the menus and views, but I have not been able to find the way to see my class diagram.

I believe the data I entered in the class diagram is in the EAP file, because when I look at the EAP file in UltraEdit (a programmer’s editor) I can see the names I used.

How can I open my class diagram after reopening the EAP file?

There is another thing that confuses me, which may be related.  What is the relationship between a model and a project?  Do I need to create a model before I create a project?  Right now I’m just trying to create my first class diagram in my first project.

Thank you,
Rich Hammer

In the Project View on the right, one level down from the Package icons, you will see an icon with three small boxes connected together. That's the icon for a diagram. You want to double-click on a diagram to view it.

You probably have one called "Logical Model".

Once you're focused you can use "Diagram/Set as Model Default". The next time you open the model, this diagram will show up.
