Recursive Package Control?

Having read the manual and searched the forums I've a funny feeling this will get a negative response, but is there any way to simply place a project or package under source control so that all subpackages are individually controlled _without_ having to do the tree recursion by hand?

As far as I can tell, I have to put every package into SC manually starting at the leaves in order to get true package granularity. I'm aghast.
