Eclipse 3.1 and MDG 1.0.19 Problem
« on: June 29, 2005, 06:31:53 am »
I've just down loaded a trial of EA and MDG for eclipse, not working for eclipse 3.1.0, well not that I can see anyway. What should I see inside eclipse?

Note: Under the EA > Add-Ins menu I have one option called Eclipse, I used this to specify the location of the eclipse.exe

Installed on my system:
org.sparx.mdg.eclipse_1.0.19.jar (in plugins folder)
Eclipse 3.1.0
Windows XP
EA 5.00.767

same problem here  :'(

That is I cannot link to eclipse - dialogbox doesn't appear to choose eclipse project

And resetting the add-in config to an eclipse 3.0 install is not possible ?

The whole Eclipse integration look a bit contrived to me and not really what an Eclipse user would expect

It looks all a bit strange and up-side-down to me - but that may be because I'm from the other side of the world  ;D

Did you get MDG 1.0.19 to work with Eclipse 3.1 or did you revert to Eclipse 3.0? I had to go back all the way to 3.0.0  :(

MDG Link should work fine with Eclipse 3.1, it's actually what we currently test with here.

Verify that the Eclipse plugin is installed correctly.  Open Eclipse and check:
- Help | About Eclipse Platform | Plug-in Details
Verify that the MDG Plug-in has loaded, and there is one (and only one) of them loaded.
- Window | Preferences | General | Startup and Shutdown
Make sure "MDG Plug-in" appears and is checked.

Also worthy of note, anti-virus or firewall software (eg. McAfee VirusScan) can cause problems by blocking the communication between the plugins.  If you are having trouble making a connection and you have verified the above steps, you may want to try temporarily disabling any antivirus/firewall software you have installed, then try connecting again.

Is it possible to have Eclipse running on a linux box and EA on a windows box and link them through MDG?

Hi,

I don't see a Add-ins menu in EA menubar, and hence don't know how to configure EA for Eclipse.

I have downloaded trial version of EA (I'm trying Corporate edition). I have Eclipse 3.0.2. I can see one and only one entry for MDG plugin for Eclipse in Help->About->PluginDetails of eclipse menu. When I open up EA, I do get a popup for the 30-day trail version of MDG eclipse plugin.

Have I missed any other installation instructions?

Thanks.

Hi, I just figured out the problem. The Corporate edition does not show the Add-Ins menu, but the Professional edition did. Thanks a lot.

If you have installed MDG Link but are not seeing the Add-Ins menu appear as expected, try opening main menu item "Tools | Customize | Menu" and click Reset.  Add-Ins should also be available in context menus by right-clicking on an open diagram or in the project view.
