linking operation to activity

I am trying to link an operation on a component interface (component diagram) to an activity (step), but can't get beyond component.
Is there a way to link an operation to an activity?

There are several threads about that topic. Search "operation activity"

True, but they all conclude that it is not fully possible because 'attributes and operations aren't objects (elements) in EA speak' (quoted from an EA guru).

I was just wandering if anything changed or is expected to change in coming releases (I am trying to find arguments to ask my boss to upgrade from 4.5
