MDG Intergration for Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2
« on: December 12, 2005, 10:28:55 pm »
Nice job guys!  I just purchased EA and MDG Integration yesterday and had a problem attaching a UML Diagram in VS.NET 2005.  I downloaded and installed Beta 2 and the problem was resolved just as advertised - worked like a champ!

Hi'ya Tim

Pleased to hear you got the thing working :o :-[ :)

Can you edit the UML model from within Visual Studio?  I don't mean by changing the code, but from the diagram window?  Or do you switch to EA to do that - the model is only viewable in VS?

Cheers and have a good day.

Stay tough
Kevin

Hi Kevin, the answer is yes and yes.  I can edit the UML model from within Visual Studio, but doing so calls EA.  You are correct that the model is read-only in VS, but it nicely switches to  EA and allows modifications via the EA application and there is a convenient Close EA button to allow me to smoothly toggle back to VS when I am finished with my edits in EA.  My only complaint is that it seems the changes that I make in EA are not immediately visible in VS :P  I have to actually get out of VS and then launch VS again to see the changes made to the EA package.  Would be a nice enhancement to have a refresh button in the EA Project View window that is displayed in VS.

Hope this has helped!

You mean something like the 'Reload Model Explorer' in the context menu for the root of the tree or 'Refresh Current Item' for other things?

Thanks Simon, you are correct of course.  I am new to EA and was not aware that these features were in the product.  Thank you for bringing them to my attention!
