References for projects with Oracle and Subversion
« on: January 11, 2006, 03:55:40 am »
We are starting a large project and plan to do the specification EA. Team size will be 20 to 40 people. The model will be stored in an Oracle database. Additionally, versioning on package level will be done with Subversion. We have set up a test environment (with a small model and few users) and everything seems to work.

I tried to find references of this type of setup or similar setups (database and version control) on the EA web pages and in the forums, but without success. Has anybody reading here a suitable reference?

Regards

Roger

Hi Roger,

Please see the documents "EA Deployment" and "Version Control", under Resources | Whitepapers on our web site.

There is a section on "Version Control Deployment Schemas" in the appendix of the "Version Control" whitepaper.

A "feature" of the Shared Model set up is; "the model is immediately updated as users make changes".  This may be the deciding factor for you on whether to use the shared model or private model deployment schema.

Which ever deployment you choose to adopt, it is a relatively simple task to swap the model over to the other kind of deployment.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Howard

Thanks for the hint.

I have already read the white paper and found it informative.

We have set everything up and it works (we tested with about 5 users).

We ask for references to back our decision / convince the customer.
