problem with visual sourcesafe
« on: December 14, 2005, 05:16:52 am »
Hello,
I have correctly configured a scc control. I can check-in or checkout some packages . But , When I try to use the menu "Package Control"->"GetPackage"->"MyProject(SCC, "$/MyProject/Refrentiel UML,MXHAAAAA), the program returns the error " The SCC provider returned an error"   ???  :-[

I have the same problem.
- I just downloaded a trial version.
- Opened the Example model.
- Added my Visual Source Safe repository to the sourcecontrol settings
- Added "Requirements Model" to VSS (this works)
- As a test I wanted to get the added package: In root off "Project View" Package control -> Get package -> "my VSS setting"

"The SCC Provider returned an error."

EA 30-day trial 6.1.785

Is there a solution for this problem. If not, then there is no way to share packages between EA designs.

I also asked the question at [email protected] and they replied:

Hello XXXX,

There is a particular build of MS VSS (ver. 6.0d build 9848 I believe), that has a bug, whereby it does not support the function that populates the list of available files.  See this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;821419

EA's "Get Package" feature works fine with other builds of VSS, as well as with a dozen or more other version control products.

Here is the link where somebody explains how to obtain this update: http://www.codecomments.com/Visual_SourceSafe/message767462.html

I obtained it from MS support and this fixes the problem  ;D
