Help with section Numbering
« on: January 30, 2006, 11:41:22 am »
I'm having a few troubles with section numbering.

I would like the package I'm running the document from to start at level 2. Then each element withing the package would be level 3, including child packages. An sub elements/packages should go to level 4, and so on. See below for a sample.

1.1 Package
1.1.1 Child Package
1.1.1.1 Child Package Element
1.1.2 Package Element

I've been trying to get this to work but for some reason I cannot seem to format the section numbers this way.

I know I've had some limited success with this in the past but I can't seem to figure out how it's done.

I'm using 6.0.781.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dana

Dana is not the only one with this problem.

The only chance I see is using Adjust Heading Levels, but I am not sure how to use it to get Dana's results. Have I missed something? Pls help.

hi !

in order to succeed with that problem of deeper and depper numbering, the only way i've found is making a new template from the delivered [Basic] template

It's a hard work but this works !

If I create a new template, all numbering are at fixed level and not relatives !!

The [basic] template uses "Heading" styles (with capital 'h') which are not compatible with MS Word in french, so I wrote a word macro to convert all "Heading" styles in "Titre" styles (french name of numbering styles)
