Sparxmarketing

On the 14th Jan and 28th Jan I received emails that mentioned Sparxmarketing and gave many email addresses that looked typical of SparxSystems type of customer (s/w professionals etc.)

It looks like an automated warning of delivery failure, but it did give a whole batch of email addresses out including my own private address.

Since receiving these messages my normally clear work email account has been hit with significant increases in spam email. I very rarely give this email address out, so am concerned if the address is being sent, even inadvertently, by Sparx to a wide audience.

I sent a question to Sparx support after the first email to see if this was indeed from SparxSystems or some spurious spam from elsewhere, but got no response.

Have others received such emails?

Could someone from Sparx comment on whether this did originate from them (albeit inadvertently). If so, I'm hoping this issue will get resolved by the end of the week in case this is a result of a regular bi-weekly message sent by Sparx (next due this Fri/Sat).

Great product BTW!

I received it without addresses. About one year ago they sent such an advert with public CC and receive a cosh for that. No problem since then.

Hi All,

About 12 months ago, there was an isolated case where the delivery of a Sparx newsletter did expose a limited number of email addresses. Since then, a new system for delivering newsletters has been established and is monitored carefully to prevent any recurrence of the incident.

With regards to Minty’s comments, our guess is that the MailServer Notification is a result of the action of a virus or trojan on someone's machine that has accessed an old email. Recently, we have received only 2 other similar reports. Having examined the supplied email header information, the server addresses do not indicate that the message has originated from any Sparx server. Also, the timestamps do not appear to relate to any of our recent newsletters. You may wish to satisfy that this is the case yourself.

Minty, you may wish to resend your complaint to the address given below - as your email does not appear to have come through to us.

If others are concerned about the email notification please feel free to contact us at Sparx Systems Marketing ([email protected]). We are committed to protecting personal information and will unsubscribe concerned users from the newsletter upon request.

Regards,

Sparx Marketing
