Hi All,

I am keen to know the proper role played by a "Business Analyst", in IT-Finance projects.

Regards,
Seema

What do you mean by "IT-Finance project"? An IT Project for Financial Services or a project to Finance IT Infrastructure?

Hi Seema,

if, as Thomas said, you are looking at IT in the Financial Services industry, there is no simple answer (and I suspect there is no simple answer in any other industry). Role of a BA tends to be different from one company to another. In some companies, BAs are little more than facilitators, collecting requirements from the clients/users and passing them on, elsewhere the BAs are mixed with the Systems Analysts, in some companies BAs are responsible for testing, elsewhere they design the test cases that will be executed by someone else, yet elsewhere the BAs have nothing to do with testing at all. Some companies treat BAs as mini-Project Managers, having them to see the whole project/enhancement through the whole cycle, in other companies that is not the case.
I wish there were a simple answer, but I am afraid there is not :-)

Why do you ask? Do you have a particular issue in mind?

Bruno

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies.

I am interested in the role of requirement analysis, client needs being transformed into IT solution. But as written different companies have different requirement. So I am very much confused.

Seema

Hi Seema,
if it's "just" requirements analysis, this should be an easy job (provided you are from IT and not a banker). Read here to find out more.
