Insert a list item in an RTF template

I am using EA 6.1.787
I have tried to create a list of Figures in the RTF template editor, but I just cannot find any way to insert the corresponding field in the text. I am trying to insert numbered captions as in the 'insert/reference/caption' of MS Word.
Is this possible ? I cannot find anything in the documentation.
