Incomplete toolbox...
« on: March 17, 2006, 01:48:47 am »
I'm sorry for stupid question but I have problems with finding some diagrams elements. For example after choosing Activity section from toolbox there are no such elements as fork/join node. I tried to configure perspective using Configure Perspectives option but still some elements are not accessible in the toolbox. Are there any other options that influence the toolbox constituents?

Many thanks in advance!

Jacek J.

Jacek,
my Activity box contains also Fork/Join. It's right in the middle between Activity on top and Interrupt Flow on the bottom. About 20-30 elements inside.

Thomas,
unfortunately I don't have an Interrupt Flow symbol in my toolbox as well... :'(

So, if you verified that the perspective has all elements checked, I have no idea what else might be the cause. How many elements does the toolbox show? How many are offered in the Perspectives? Is a Join/Fork visibile and checked there?

Yes, in the perspectives configuration dialog box all elements for activity (UML 2.0) have been checked, but in the toolbox only the following elements are available:
- activity
- subactivity
- action
- partition
- object
- datastore
- decision
- send/receive
- sync
- initial
- final

By the way...thanks a lot for all your help...it is really good to have someone who knows much more  :).

Best, Jacek.

No problem at all :)

I suspect an EA problem here.

Ah! While typing this, I notice that Folder Buttons show Fork/Join twice here. I uncecked one for curiosity but no change in the toolbox. Same with the 2nd. Restarted EA - still showing both Fork/Joins. Maybe we wait for someone else to comment (unfortunately the Aussies already left for weekend). But it smells like a bug :(

Hu! Now I found something strange while you solved your problem.

Okay - we close that ;D

Thomas, et al...

I just looked at this, and think I know the answer. The two fork/joins represent the vertidal and horizontal bars. There is a different toolbox icon for each, and thus two check boxes.

Hadn't noticed this before, so it may have crept in during a recent build. I seem to remember something about an enhancement to the fork/join method in one of the release notes, but cannot remember when.
No, you can't have it!

For sure: horizontal and vertical. But unchecking it did not make it disappear. Since do not make use of Perspectives I leave it to someone else to file a bug report. The bug might also be me. ;)

Try this Thomas: Click the "Save Folders List" button. I tried it before checking (or unchecking) the Fork/Join button. As usual you should click the "Save Button List" button after changing the tool selection.

Without saving the folders your changes will not be saved to the toolbox (at least for the fork/join buttons). Clicking as above will save the changes.

Note: It is not necessary to save the folders after saving changing and saving the button list.

Sounds like a bug to me - perhaps one of a few regarding Perspectives. I have not yet done the homework to figure out exactly what's happening (versus what should be) so have not yet written up the bug report(s).
