It means that the shape should stay as it is and the compartments (like the Tags) should appear outside somewhere nearby. But the should appear...
Exactly so... Thomas!

My (current) preference would be to have something like an extended shadow (but not too dark) into which the extra compartments are embedded.   Thus they would be visibly "linked" to the main shape, but not alter it.

I thought .... that UML notation options, i.e. non-rectangle shapes, were meant to not show feature compartments???

I see where you are going though.

But I wouldn't like EA to deviate from the (hahahahaha) OMG standard.

While what you say is true, bruce, that's already handled by EA's strict UML compliance checkbox - which as you know forces named AssociationEnds to be Attributes...  <Tongue very firmly in cheek/>

Guys,
is there any reason for enabling rectangle notation for one element ((some) stereotyped classes; Activities; some more) but not for another(e.g. Actions)? I mean, does OMG make any restrictions?

Yes. Specializations of Kernel::Classifier (e.g. Activity and UseCase) can use the generic Classifier notation (rectangle with compartments).

Inferjack asked me off-line what to do about displaying tagged values for Actions. Here's my answer, FYI:

You can't show them in a compartment as with classes, so I think your best bet is a linked note:

1. Attach a note/comment element to the action 2. Right-click the note link and select "Link this note to an element feature"
3. For "Feature Type" either select "Tagged Values" or "Single Tag and Notes"

The note will now show the tagged values and will update whenever the tagged value changes (although this may require you to reload the diagram). There is more detail here: http://sparxsystems.com.au/EAUserGuide/index.html?howtolinkanotetoaneleme.htm
