Import reference data
« on: March 24, 2006, 01:23:42 am »
Hi,

I created my own web style template for the HTML-Report and exported this with "Export reference data => Templates - HTML Style Detail".

I tried to import this with "Import reference data" but nothing happened. When I created a new Webstyle template with the same name however and then import the reference data it overwrites my newly created web style. If I delete this overwritten web style, close the program and restart it and then create a new web style with the same name as the last, it's instantly loaded by the previously deleted one.

I wonder how this can be.

Can you try to explain the steps you did more exactly. Export from A, import into B. It's a bit tricky since EA uses GUIDs and the re-import overwrites what you have changed. A fresh import should work however.

step1: Made a web style template with the name "report"

step2: "Export reference data => Templates - HTML Style Detail"

step3: Made a new project and imported the XML file that I exported. I can't find the imported web style anywhere.

step4: Made a web style template with the name: "report" in the new project and imported again. Now the newly created web style is the imported one.

step5: Deleted the web style template from resource view. Closed the program and re-opened it and made a new project and made a new web style template with the name: "report". Without importing, the new template is the same as if I had imported it.

I tried it here and indeed - it does not work. Honestly speaking I have not used these templates so far. So may be there is something I'm not aware of. But the export contains the modifications - while the import does not do anything. Maybe you wait until Monday to see if someone else has an answer. But you should submit a bug report then.
