Oracle ODBC import - Where are the views?
« on: March 13, 2006, 07:24:26 am »
Hi,

I am trying to import the views from an oracle schema into the Logical View, but it only seems to import the tables and procedures.
Is this a limitation of the ODBC DDL import?
Has anyone else been able to import Oracle views via ODBC ddl import?

Cheers,

Grant

AFAIK EA does not import views (from anything). I believe there has been considerable discussion about this subject here in the forum, although I cannot remember if anyone has proposed a workaround. You might want to search the forum.
No, you can't have it!

THats very disappointing.
I did search the forums, but couldnt find anything.
Perhaps I was using the wrong criteria.
If it cant be done, then I will have to find another way or manually model the views in EA myself.

Cheers

At the moment.. yes.

We are currently working on support for import of views. We are aiming to include it in version 6.5.

Grant,

Just to make things clear, my experience has been that the transition from (part way through) EA 4.1 to 4.5 to 5.0 to 6.0, and now 6.1 has taken well under 2 years. My (completely uneducated) guess is that 6.5 will be the next or next but one version, and not too far into the future.

In the meantime, search the forum for related subjects. I think this would be a highly productive area of attach for an add-in; doubtless others have made progress in this, and could share their insights.

To my knowledge it is due 2nd quarter this year and will be the next major release :)
