How to Nest Diagrams
« on: March 29, 2006, 10:16:00 am »
Newbie is struggling with the easy stuff :'(.

I look at the EAExample and see use cases in a Use Case Diagram that are nested.  I click on a use case within the diagram and it takes me to the nested diagram.  How do I create this nesting?

Hi,

right-click on a Use Case (or any other element) on the diagram and go to menu Advanced Settings > Composite Element.

Hope this helps!

That was too easy! THANKS!

I could not find it in the help (but that doesn't mean it's not there).

How does a newbie learn those types of tricks?

You're in the right place now.

You can always experiement with things. Sometimes the correct technique is in the help, but very difficult to find.

In some cases I have discovered that the terminology for things is not what I'd expect. Only after careful examination of things like menu names, properties windows, etc. have I come to see what EA calls certain things. Once I get to that point I look for the new terms in help; sometimes (and only sometimes) that leads me to the correct place.

Meanwhile, the forum members have usually run into what you want, and are glad to help. As time geos on please remember to return the favor by helping newer members.
No, you can't have it!
