Customer questionary for BPM
« on: March 30, 2006, 12:52:57 am »
Hi,
anybody knows about some questionary or medology or something like this, which can be used for scaning customer's business proceses in order to describe their proceses. I need to scan and describe business proceses in some company. I will describe this proceses with UML, but to ensure best aproach for scaning their proceses I am trying to find some questionary which can be used to get more from our conversation.

It is not that easy.  Such a questionnaire would be huge!  Instead, ask open-ended questions and listen critically to their responses.  Here are some starting questions:
  • What kinds of things do they keep track of?
  • What kind of things do they do through out the work day?
  • What do they do it to?
  • What problems occur sometimes as they do it?
  • Why do they do it? What would happen if they did not do it?
  • How do they prioritize the things that they do?
  • How often do they do it?
  • Who do they interact with while they do it?
  • What events trigger actions on their part?  What must they have to initiate an action?
  • What do they do to trigger others into action?
  • What regulates or constrains their actions or decision making processes
  • What conditions are necessary for them to be successful doing it?
  • What does the company expect from them in terms of results?
  • How repetitious is their work?
  • Do things have to be done in any certain order?
That's probably enough for a first interview  8)
Verbal Use Cases aren't worth the paper they are written upon.
