XML export/import
« on: April 20, 2006, 04:07:29 am »
Hi,

I exported my model to XML by right clicking on the top level 'View' node, made some changes to the XML (string replacements within use cases), imported back into the model, and it's lost all the views that previously existed.

I can still click through the hyperlinks on the home page, and all the use cases etc are still there in the background, but the treeview itself is empty which is going to cause a problem when I try to generate any documentation. The XML certainly contains definitions for the views and it looks like it exported okay. The import log looks okay too; it has relevant 'Add Classifier Role: Use Case View' lines.

Is there something hiding the nodes, or do I have to tell EA to rebuild the tree?

Thanks.

Hi,

Tried importing the XML into an earlier version of EA and it worked as expected (although 'Model' becomes the top-level node rather than 'Views', and it's not recognising view types, but that's no big deal).

The original export to XML was done using 6.1.785 and the (successful) import was done using 4.x.

At least we think that's what's happened! Either way, it's all good.

Cheers.
