renaming stereotypes globally
« on: April 25, 2006, 12:48:20 am »
Throughout my model I have used some custom stereotypes. Unfortunately the name of a stereotype I use is not correct and I would like to globally "search and replace" that stereotype name in my model. The only option I've come up with is to search for that stereotype and manually change the name. Is there an easier way?

Thanks! M.

Quick shot: Export XMI; use text editor; Import XMI.

If you created the stereotypes via the Settings / UML / Stereotypes menu choice then go back into that dialog and change the name of the stereotypes there. That should do it.

If not, you are left with this problem. You will have to do a search. Use the Edit / Find... dialog and click Advanced. [Don't be concerned if you missed this one; I constantly have to reming myself it is there, and usually end up doing one or two manual searches before I remember.] This dialog will allow some pretty incredible things, and should get you where you need to be.
