Ordering Of RTF Documentaion
« on: May 01, 2006, 03:51:58 am »
Hi,
I have written a use-case using General, Require, Constraint, Scenario Tabs. I have used a use-case template provided by EA.

When I generate the RTF document, I want EA to produce the document in the following order.
:Use case Description, Pre Condition, Basic Path, Alternate Path, Validations, Post Condition.

But EA does not produce the Elements in above order and groups all the Pre-Conditions and Post Condition together at once place.

Has anybody faced this problem earlier? If so please help me by providing any solution for this problem.

Regards

Sanjay,

This is probably not the correct solution, but could be worth a try while you wait.

See if unchecking the bottom right boxes on the Tools / Options / Objects dialog. These group things by stereotype, and there's an outside chance that this behavior might be carried over to report generation. I'm guessing here, but it should be a moment's work to try it out.

The screenshot did not come through Sanjay. I am going to take a quick try to see if I can see what's happening and perhaps find a work around.

EDIT:

Now I think I see what you mean. Somehow you need to do two passes through the constraint selection process, one choosing preconditions (for example) and the other choosing post conditions. Each pass would exclude the conditions chosen by the other.

I don't know if EA has the ability to test a constraint type for an element during selection. You can do this for methods. If you can do this you might have to create at least two templates, one choosing the first set of constraints and everything through the point before where the second should show up, the other continuing from there. Then see if you can call these from a 'master' template. Off-hand I don't know how to do this, if it is possible, since I have not had to generate much documentation from EA since before the new rtf process came on stream.

Anyone know how to call one template from another?

David,
I tried attaching the scrrenshot, but it inserts a tag . i never get a window asking for the files to be uploaded.

Thanks in advance for making an effort towards the solution.
