Exporting version controlled packages
« on: May 31, 2006, 06:06:26 pm »
Hi,

We have model files with various version controlled packages. Some of these packages needs to be distributed to other departments but these departments should not change the contents of the packages and they have no access to our version control.

Ideally, when we export the version controlled packages, we would like to see that the department can import them as a controlled package (not as version controlled package) - they would see the red bar in front of the package icon. However, the exported package still contains the version control configuration in the XML file (VCCFG) and the package will show up as a version controlled package. This is a bit silly as they do not have access to our version control at all.

My question is therefore: how do I export a version controlled package such that when it is imported it will be regarded as a controlled package with the red bar automatically. The only way we found out so far to accomplish this is to manually edit the exported XML file and to remove the VCCFG item. Is there an easier way?

Thanks,
 Stefan
