Import DB Schema from ODBC
« on: February 21, 2006, 11:53:07 am »
I tried importing a db schema using ODBC...I'm getting a 'Internal error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load'.

Here is what I did:

1) I used Oracle 10g Instant client to create a datasource (from Windows XP).  The data source was successfully created -- i could 'test the connection' without any problem.

2) Now, when I went to EA and tried importing, I got the foll above error message

3) I tried the same thing with Oracle client (not the instant client), I got the same error.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Use Windows "ODBC Data Source Administrator" to create the ODBC datasource.

Use Windows "ODBC Data Source Administrator" to create the ODBC datasource.

That is what I used (Control Panel->administrative tools->ODBC Datasource).   I got the above issue

Your ODBC driver seems to be in trouble. Try to verify that it is the right one. Try accessing the source with Excel (import external data) for test purpose.

I am getting the same error. I can access the database fine through excel. I am using the 10.2.0 client. Not sure why this is failing.

I don't know if this helps, but I'm using the following to reverse engineer an Oracle 9i (?) DB with no problems:
- Win XP Professional SP2
- ODBC driver manager V3.525.1117.0
- Oracle 9.02.00.00 ODBC driver (SQORA32.DLL 2002-03-12)
- EA 6.1.790 Corp edition

Cheers,
David.
