Trouble with fragments in sequence diagrams
« on: July 26, 2006, 11:06:50 am »
I am new to EA, evaluating it for broad adoption in a large development org.

I have been very frustrated trying to use fragements in sequence diagrams.  When I drop a fragment onto a sequence diagram, I often find that messages are moved out from underneath it.  Similarly, when I try to move a message into a frame, sometimes it works and sometimes not.    Sometimes the message looks like it is in the frament, but when I move the fragment the message doesn't follow along.  What determines whether a fragment treats messages as part of the fragment?

I, too, find it pretty hard to deal with sequence diagrams in EA. Nevertheless, i might have some tip for you to make it "easier" to deal with fragments.

When you want to move a fragment without killing all of your good work, hold the alt key while dragging the fragment. When you'll drop the fragment, it won't mess everything up.

If there is already some links or association in your fragment while moving it willing holding alt, they wont budge from their original location.

If you drop the fragment with alt on some associations or links, those will become "attached" to the fragment.

I hope those tips will help you "work around" your problem.
