Selecting multiple messages in a sequence diagram

Hi,
I cannot figure out how to select multiple messages in a sequence diagram. I want to delete them easily. Ideally I would select them in an single operation using mouse and then delete but it doesn't seem to be possible. Even using ctrl-click (or shift-click) doesn't work though it works for other elements on the diagram.

It seems I have to select each message and delete it individually ! Surely there is an easier way.
