Baseline XMIs - interchanging
« on: September 21, 2006, 08:35:06 pm »
Hi,

We're experimenting with baselines as part of our distributed packaging architecture.

The baselining process appears to create an XMI file and then store it, compressed, within the repository.  Accordingly, if we wanted to move a container between one repository and another, we should be able to create a baseline in the origin repository, export the baseline (as a file),  go to the destination repository and import the file as a live container object and then go to manage baselines and import it again as a baseline in the destination object.

Subsequently, if we did a compare between the destination baseline and the destination imported container we should see no differences.

Can anyone (especially a Sparxian) confirm that this should be possible?

We tried it a couple of times and once EA said there were differences, but (as with my embarrassing topic on views)  it may have just be a slip of the fingers (or mind) that created the difference.

TIA,
Paolo

There shouldn't be any differences showing up.  Just as if you created a baseline and then immediately compared you shouldn't be any differences.

If there are differences showing we would like to see an XMI file that would allow us to reproduce it.

Thankz for the confirmation Simon,

It was almost certainly human error at our end...
