MSJET35
« on: August 24, 2006, 07:49:11 am »
EA has been installed on a W2K machine with SP4 installed.

When I start EA it's fine, when I try to create a new project I get a dialog that says:

"An Error has Ocurred: Incorrect version of the DLL file 'MSJET35.DLL' was found."

I press "OK" (the only choice) and then get it again, finally I get the "Select Model(s)" dialog.

No matter what I select in here, pressing "OK" has no effect.

Im running EA as "Corprate" user and this is version 6.1.792.

Also the Help About window has a field called "Database Details" that contains "No current project!".

Three questions:

1) Whast must I do to resolve the MSJET error?
2) If the DLL version is an issue, then EA should not display the "Select Model(s)" dialog but should make it clear that a project cannot be created.
3) Could this be caused by something we did/failed to do?

Thx
Hugh

OK I copied the latest version of that DLL straight to the folder that contains EA.EXE and it now finds and loads this without issue it seems.

Perhaps the reporting on this can be tightened up, telling user the actual version found, the version expected and suggesting they take some action like I did.

Take a look at the Tools / Options dialog. Near the upper right you will find Use Jet 4.0, which is not set by default.

Check this box and restart EA. This will likely solve your problem on new machines with W2K or XP, particularly if no older version of Office or certain other MS products are installed. You may get slightly better performance too.
No, you can't have it!
