Spiral Based Development
« on: October 10, 2006, 06:27:32 pm »
I manage a project that has many concurrent development efforts occuring in parallel (spiral based) and rely on clearcase to help manage our code baselines.  Recently, we've started using EA as our tool to model and develop conops, requirements, preliminary design, ... Our process is use case driven from the Use Case View through several other views to the Design & Deployment Views.

My question is, does anyone have a recommendation for structuring a model or using different tools to effectively manage each 'branch' of our baseline such that artifacts within each development effort are not clashing with others?  I realize this is an involved question so if anyone has some advise, I wouldn't mind chatting via email or over the phone.  Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am also trying to set up a similar collaboration environment using EA (and Subversion). Unfortunately I cannot provide answers to your questions because I am in the early stages but maybe my posting will help prompt some guru to share their experience and help us newbies out.

An example of the kind of uncertainty I have is addressed by a recent posting (to which I have had no replies unfortunately) http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=general;action=display;num=1159952179. Basically I am unsure as to whether I should rely on EA baselining or use VC tagging/branching instead.
