Security Group Permissions
« on: October 30, 2006, 06:56:27 pm »
I am currently attempting to establish a robust security model using Corporate editions of EA and EA's security management features...

I am having some difficulty mapping the list of available permissions with specifically what they enable you to do...

MY PLAN:
1.) I am establishing a single shared model on Oracle, and then establishing new root node projects... (e.g., Shared Model; Project A Model; Project B Model)

2.) Create task specific permission groups (eg., "CreateProjects") that will be assigned to users filling that specific role...

User Role: Responsible for creating the initial project model, populate the users and assign their permissions, add specific model views (using add-model wizard), add new resources, clients, etc. (Basically what ever needs to be done to get the new project's model up and running, ready to be turned over to the project's lead/manager.)

Problem is there is not a clear list of what these permissions specifically do... There is a displayed "meaning" listed in the table under "List of Available Permissions", but experimenting to find there specifics is VERY slow and inaccurate...

Any ideas, locations for more info, or anyone else's experience?

Example: What permission enables a user to import CSV data? What is the actual difference between "Use Version Control" and "Configure Version Control" (seems to grant same permissions?)
