Can't draw association Actor instance <-> UC
« on: November 10, 2006, 06:27:39 am »
I can't seem to draw an association between an instance of an Actor and a Use Case.

It only gives me the options of Dependency, Trace, Information Flow.

Is this a UML 2.0 constraint, or a gap in the tool?

Association is an abstraction of all possible links between two  classifiers.
That means you cannot draw any association between an instance of whatever (according to UML).

Just go ahead and use the "Trace" or "Link" association, it should supply the traceability that you are looking for...
Time is what keeps everything from happening at once, Space is what keeps it all from happening to you. <unknown>

My guess is that you could replace the actor instance with the actor itself and not lose any meaning. Just a suggestion.
