Connecting to J2EE application

I have a J2EE application. I finally got my licenses for EA for my team.

I want to use the debugging feature to generate sequence diagrams.  Therefore I want to be able to connect to a running instance of the server with debug enabled.

The help file is no help.  Is there a doc somewhere that describes what I need to do for a J2EE application?
