BUG: Problems with overlength Message Parameters
« on: December 07, 2006, 08:34:58 pm »
If the parameters of a message are longer than 235 characters it will generate a:

DAO.Field [3163]
The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add.  Try Inserting or pasting less data.

error.  And the value is NOT stored...

However, the visual rendering on the screen has the just entered value.  Giving the impression the Error message was spurious...

If you reload the diagram, the rendering returns to the previous value in the field - not that entered.

1) the length needs to be fixed - if anyone can tell us what field is involved (we looked but couldn't find it - HONEST! :(), we can change the field locally until Sparx come up with a more permanent fix.

2) The rendering on the diagram should take place AFTER the save to the DB as we are currently fooled into thinking all is well...

Inconsistently correct systems DON'T EXIST!
... Therefore, aim for consistency; in the expectation of achieving correctness....
