Search Large Objects
« on: December 14, 2006, 02:53:26 am »
hi all,

our daily XML-export became really large. This is not only because we are working so hard. It's mostly because
  • some fellows embedded images into linked documents as BMP rather than PNG or JPG
  • some packages contain forgotten baselines s.o. created months and years ago
Is there a hint how to find large elements, large packages and/or baselines?

Thanks to all
Stefan

Perhaps you could brute-force this a bit. What about performing two exports, one with each setting for diagram inclusion. Then use an external XML tool to look for elements included in only one.

At least this would give you a list of places to search.

You could also look for images in the EA database - try the Search view (check the docs). When you've found likely suspects start looking for references in your projects. Perhaps you've got some old orphan images hitching a ride from legacy times. Or perhaps you have a few images that would be better candidates for shape scripts or some other lighter weight approach.
No, you can't have it!
