Yes it does, but too late!  After it's done quite some processing!

When exporting an immediate check should be made that the target is writable. If not, the user should be informed then...

Naturally, a further check is required when actually ready to overwrite the file.

Why two checks?  Isn't it terribly inefficient? - said a developer, to me, a long time ago.

We can be terribly efficient at being ineffective...

BTW: for a batch export, an immediate check for writability of ALL files would be pretty cool and save a LOT of effort by the user...
