Authorization into EA project
« on: January 11, 2007, 06:49:41 am »
Hello All,

I have a question:
is it possible to setup a permission for each element inside a EA project?
I have a project and I'd like to insert a permission for each element, so some people can modify only some element and some other people can modify other elements.
I had enabled the security and I had enable "Require user lock to edit".
Some of you could help me?
Thanks
Bye
Matteo

This is not possible by now. But it sounds good. The setup of permissions on packages should be possible as well. You should place your idea in "Suggestions and Requests".

There are some significant errors with how group permissions are implemented in the current releases (I have submitted a bug report to EA, which acknowledged the problems and they are targeting the fixes in a near release.. had hoped 801... but still waiting)

The problem I had was that the group permission was not being correctly handled by the UI options (Pull-down menu, short-cut key, context menu.) So even though a permission was not being granted, one or more of the UI options remained enabled...

This may or may not be a issue for you... it just depends on HOW much you planned on restricting permission's by group/roles...
