Custom Interface Extensions, HTML Pages
« on: January 30, 2007, 08:00:38 am »
Hi,
I am running EA 6.5.757 and I would like to design a web/html UI with EA.  Support in the tool as shipped is OK, but not great.  There is reference to "custom interface extensions" for web pages in section "5.3.4.15 Screen" of the manual.  However, I haven't been able to determine if there is something I can use or buy that makes designing web pages with EA easier.
Thanks for your time and help.

        Bill

Hi Bill,

I know this has come up before in the Suggestions and Requests section of the forum.

First, I think you should consider updating to the current build, if that's feasible for you. We're now at 803.

At the very least download the manual, or consult the on-line help on the Sparx site. Perhaps there's been some movement in this area.

All that said, I don't think there's been too much progress, if any. The simple fact is that EA is primarily a UML tool, and that's where the core development goes. Still, I among others would like to see more UI (Web or otherwise) modeling capability.

You could help move this along by making a feature request directly to Sparx. Follow the Support link at the top of the forum page and use the left side menu to find the right spot. Or from within EA use the main menu via Help | On-line Resources | Request-a-Feature. Let Sparx know what you want, or 'frame' your idea if you are not sure of the details.

Before you do the above, please take a moment to post your request to the Suggestions and Requests section of the forum. You should then capture the URL of the thread and include this in you feature request to Sparx. This allows others in the community to show their support and discuss possible enhancements or alternatives. Sparx in turn can use this to gauge the level of customer support for the request.

Finally, check your thread regularly. Quite often workarounds are posted by others who've solved the same problem.

David
No, you can't have it!

Hi,
Thanks for your help.  I have submitted a feature request to Sparx as you suggested.  I have not yet upgraded.  I have another question, which you may be able to help with:
