Hide connector label
« on: January 29, 2007, 02:32:12 pm »
Hi,

I would like to ask if there is a way how to hide connector labels on all connector visible in diagram in a single "step".

My scenario: I am doing database modeling and I have a diagram with couple of tables and FK relationships between them. While all connectors on the diagram are stereotyped as FK, I would like to hide this. Also I would like to hide under some circumstances source/target role, etc.

It is really annoying for me to set connector label visibility on each connector separately in described case.

Do you know of any way, how can i do this in one step?
(e.g. set connector labels visibility in Diagram Properties dialog)?

Thanks for answer.

ONO

Hi Ono,

Try searching for "Hide connector label" in the forum...  This question has been asked before - and there were some answers...

There's a lot of information in the forum - try searching first.

Paolo,

I suggest you try searching first too. Thank you.

tick-tock-tick-tock....

Are you done yet? Any luck?

I spent 2 hours going through EA interface and documentation and then 1 hour searching this forum (which has usability isses as well... like broken "Back" button) but I didn't see niether positive nor a negative answer to the original problem.

It seems that there is no way to do a bulk update of connectrolabel visibility on a diagram. Nor is there a way to set default connector label visibility for new diagrams.

I hope, you gurus out there, will prove me wrong.

Thanks!

Alexey, this was not a personal offense. Maybe if you had searched first and mentioned that, the answer would have been different.

To my knowledge there is no way to do that hiding for multiple selection. There were several discussion around "Multiple Selections" (yes, Bruce). And we saw some tiny steps from Sparx in that direction. But still: we are far from what users desire.

So did I before the original post reply.

Unfortunately ono, I've been overseas and effectively incommunicado, so I wasn't able to reply to you earlier.

I note while I've been away there's been a lot of discussion about usability of the forum and searching in particular...  I'll probably post some thoughts on that sort of stuff there...

As it happens, using your original title words WILL yield the answer to your question (as confirmed by bruce) - You can't...

If you searching doesn't yield that answer - then we need to investigate why.
