EAExample Requirements Traceability Diagram
« on: February 19, 2007, 02:16:33 pm »
I have a couple of questions regarding the Traceability Diagrams shown in the EAExample.

Once you setup the Relationship Matrix, can you generate the Traceability diagram? Or do you have to create the diagram manually.

There are 2 examples given, one is ManageUsers and the other is Manage Inventory. My attempt to create something like this is more like the Manage Inventory example without swimlanes and has the listing of the package. How can you bring the elements into a diagram without the package reference (in brackets under the element).

Open diagram properties for a diagram (you can use the F5 shortcut to make this quick). Experiment the Highlight Foreign Objects and Show Additional Parents settings.

[Strangely enough, this seems to be having no effect on a test diagram I just did using Build 804. However, this may be a side effect of an add-in.]
No, you can't have it!

Yup, that did it. Thanks!

Any ideas on generating the Traceability diagram? Or is this a manual process. As the requirements grow, I would like to see what requirements are missing Use Cases... Of course I can always look at the Relationships Matrix.

No ideas on that one I'm afraid.

Anyone out there got the answer to this?

There is also a possibility to use Relationship Matrix.

You could also look into the context menu "Add/Insert related elements" to support you in building a traceability diagram.

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about a need we have for traceability matrices (not diagrams - we have those!)

The requirements matrix seems OK, but it's a bit basic (doesn't support filtering on stereotypes as an example) and it's not a diagram.

The reason I want a diagram is that I need to be able to have a model (with traceability) that a non-EA savvy person can read by navigating using hyperlinks, etc.

It would be great if a "requirements matrix" object could be dragged onto a diagram to render a matrix for a particular profile, or if this was just a special diagram type.

Has this been requested before?

Darren.

Not in this way. You just have the export and the print. But it's definitely worth a feature request to have a rendered matrix somewhere in the diagrams.
