EA support for Ruby, Ruby On Rails
« on: February 22, 2007, 06:45:15 am »
Hi,

Just a simple question:
- Sparx has some plans for implementing support for Ruby and/or Ruby On Rails?

Reasoning for asking the question:
- I really like EA. It is a very useful and powerful tool
- Ruby, and especially Ruby On Rails (aka RoR) are gaining a lot of velocity lately
- Ruby is a "very" OO programming - or scripting - whatever this means :) - language (much more powerful than PHP - sorry but it's true)
- Other "scripting languages have already support form EA (PHP, Python, JS I guess too)

Thanks,
Vasile

Vasile,

I think this may have come up before in the Suggestions and Requests thread.

Perhaps you should do a search there. If you find a suggestion (or a few) covering what you want, post your support.

If not, think about creating a thread to initiate the suggestion. Others can then express their support, as well as posting ideas that might add additional value.

Once you've done that you need to do two more housekeeping chores, both simple:
  • Post a message to this thread with the URL of the thread you start in the S&R section.
  • Make a feature request to Sparx (versus just posting it to here, since this is a user forum. You can do this by clicking the Support link at the top of the forum page, and choosing the appropriate entry from the left side menu. Or, from the EA main menu choose Help | On-line Resources | Request-a-Feature.

Once you've done the above, further discussion can be unified under your S&R thread, so it is all in once place. Sparx can also easily find the thread, which will help them gauge the overall level of interest in the user community.

HTH, David
No, you can't have it!

Thanks David,

I started a new thread on S&R.
Here is the link http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=suggestions;action=display;num=1172223985;start=0#0.
I have noticed some USERS efforts for Ruby, but unfortunatelly the links point to a page in Japanese. I will try to make my way through the maze :)
