Many of the class diagrams I see in tutorials, etc. show a filled arrow along with the link name (i.e. uses >) in addition to navigability. Does EA support this, and if so, how?

Right-click the link name label and select one of the "Direction" options.

If you use this most of the time, you can set it as the default for associations via the EA main menu. Choose Tools | Options | Links and check the Association default = source --> target option.
No, you can't have it!
