BUG: Column datatype not set initially
« on: March 11, 2007, 10:03:10 pm »
When you are forward engineering, when you create a new column via the Table|Table Detail[Columns/Attributes] button or the <context menu>|Attributes menu item, the datatype property is blank.  You can save this column with a blank datatype.  Thereafter, once you click [New] a datatype (the first  on the list) is assigned.  You cannot create a blank datatype - after the initial [Save].

Either it is legal to save a blank datatype or it isn't...

Ouch!

Given the lack of meaning for such a thing, and the fact that EA goes out of its way to enforce typing when using the Unique Interface, this must be resolved.
No, you can't have it!
