Custom Stereotypes and metafiles
« on: March 23, 2007, 11:29:45 am »
Hello,

I am a newbie to EA, but so far I am really enjoying it. I searched for my problem on this board, but was unable to find it.

I am using EA 6.5.804 and I am having trouble using custom images for my stereotypes.

What I would like to do is have several custom images for my databases. I would like it so that each time I reference my database in any diagram that it uses the same image (and not the default entity image)

I have created a custom stereotype (eg: AccessDB), and have set a custom EMF file, (it shows up correctly in the preview window under Settings->UML->Stereotypes), but when I try to use it (ie: put it on a diagram) it shows just a box (I think the standard object box) and not the Metafile.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Tks,

Brad D. :-)

Try dbl-clicking the diagram and look whether the Show stereotype icons is checked.

Yep, the 'show sterotypes icon' was clicked on the Diagram packages.

I finally did get it to work, under Settings -> UML -> Sterotypes. I created a new sterotype with base class 'business class'. I chose this as I was trying to model the 'entity' sterotype' which also used 'business class'. This prevents the custom metafile from displaying.

Once i changed the Base Class to 'object', then the metafile showed correctly.

Tks,
