Compare utility and how to find changes
« on: March 30, 2007, 05:18:45 am »
Hi,
Just tried out compare utility. Seems it only works comparing current model to baseline (see that from other postings too) which is a pity - prefer to be able to compare different baselines, or compare XMI exports, etc.
While I'm on the subject does 'Compare with version on disk' do anything ?

Anyway, main reason for post is to ask how to easily find changes in the result tab for the Compare Utility. After the compare (did it via Manage Baselines->Show Differences) the left tab just shows the top level package/model and there is no indication if there are any changes. From what I can see I need to go down through the model in the left pane looking for Changed status. Surely this isn't the only way to find changes. There's no way this could be used in a large model.

Thanks

To find changes you can right click a package in the Model elements section of Compare utility window and select "Expand to changed items".
