Mass Update

Is there a way to mass update elements. For example, I imported hundred of table definitions into a data model and now want to move sets of tables into different packages. It would take hours if I did it by hand.

Any idea?

I'm not quite sure which (of two) things you are talking about.

If you are just trying to move tables from one package to another (a bunch at a time) then you're in luck. Just select the tables you want in the Project Browser and drag them to the target package. This will move the tables to a different place in your model, without changing any of your diagrams. [That's not quite true; depending on your diagram properties you may see notation like "(from <ForeignPackageName>)" displayed.]

NOTE: There was a bug in EA 7.0 that caused multiple selection in the Project Browser to behave incorrectly. It was partially corrected in the EA 7.1 beta, and appears to have been resolved as of 7.1 production (build 827).

If you are trying to change properties like Author (or such) in bulk, the answer is perhaps. Some properties can be changed in bulk, others cannot be (at least not yet).

Note also that, if you are bold and good with backups, you can manipulate the underlying data.  Of course, I'd rather do that before I had anything complicated like diagrams.

Although Kevin was looking to only move the elements to a new diagram - virtually the same functionality can be used to move elements around the model!

The only difference between the 2 processes:
Do not check Copy to Diagram Only

Now instead of just adding the elements to a new diagram TA will move those elements to the selected package.

TA has a free 30 day, fully functional evaluation trial.  Can I recommend that you download it and try it...
