Can this be installed alongside 6.5 or do I need to find a 'clean' machine?

Just tried it.....

You have to uninstall older versions before installing the beta.

If you want to continue using EA 6.5, you could try copying the EA directory (rename the copy to something like "EA.806") before uninstalling and then simply create a shortcut to the EA 6.5 exe on your desktop.  EA 7.0 will become the main installed version, but you should also still be able to run EA 6.5 from the copied directory.

Is there a full backward compability between 6.5 (806) and the 7.0 Beta Release ? And how about the Visual Studio Integration. Is it ok that some developers use the 3.0 Beta version and others the 2.1 version to access the same model and Visual Studio Solution ?

We currently use 6.5 with SQL Server 2005 as repositry and VS Integration 2.1 and would like to test the new EA/VS Integrate on some pc's whilst most developers will still be using EA 6.5/VS Integration 2.1

As long as you don't enable the auditing feature of 7.0.  This upgrades the model to a version not viewable in 6.5 or earlier.  It can also take the change back if you disable auditing.
