own Qucklink-List via profiles
« on: May 23, 2007, 12:23:03 pm »
Is it possible to define the content of the quicklink context menu via profiles? I want to build an stereotyped object wich uses my stereotyped associations as quicklinks.

I don't believe it is.

This is a very interesting idea. Perhaps you should make it as a suggestion to Sparx.

Take a look at my earlier posts, including key words like "feature" and "request" in your search. This will show you the current take on (a possible) best practice for doing this.

David, this had been requested (configiurable quick link) before. I haven't seen anything in 7.0 of that.

Thomas,

Yes, I know it has. I could not remember whether this extended to stereotyped links. For that matter, it would be nice if it extended to links defined in metamodels (or the various other ways EA has of realizing profiles).

I sort of took this as an incremental improvement. And, since the earlier request has seen little action (or reaction for that matter) of late, I thought the time might be right to nudge again in hopes for 7.0 production.

I'm a bit desperate at the moment - and I can understand why Bruce left the boat. After a furious start and many good improvements in the beginning it now looks as if the marketing guys have taken over. New shiny web site, new shiny 7.0 icons. But in respect to productivity I haven't seen any good improvement (for my personal use) since introduction of 6.0. So I gave up hope for any useful improvements to make it into production in a short (or any) term.

I wonder if anyone from Sparx is reading all this ?

To me when the "gurus" with thousands of posts to this forum 1) have abandoned EA  or 2) are sounding very disillusioned and thinking about abandoning EA,   there should be some very loud alarm bells ringing.

The functionality is in place, but it isn't usable yet because the help hasn't been written. It should be documented by the time EA 7.0 goes to full release.

Thanks, Neil. That gives me back some hope at least ;)
