How to remember toolbox folder options?
« on: June 07, 2007, 12:54:13 pm »
How can I customize the list of toolbox folders and have it remembered between sessions?

As of EA 6.5, in Tools/Options I can temporarily limit the visible folders using UML Element Toolbox dialog and Save Folder List option.  However, the next time I start EA, all the folder have returned.  This used to work in EA 6.1.

Maybe you give 7.0 a try. This part has been redesigned (and to me it looks nicer now).

Barry,

I think this is in the process of change. However, there's hope for you right now.

In EA 6.x take a look at perspectives. You can define your own, which will include a set of toolbars and icons. Remember that the default EABase project won't know about these, so you'll either have to modify EABase (after creating a copy of course) or update each new project.

[You could also use the 'old' way of copying a reference project to start a new project. Look at Tools | Data Management | Project Transfer.]

As I understand it - take this with a grain of salt, and keep abreast of what Sparx has to say on this - EA 7.0 will treat perspectives differently. I'm somewhat confused about this, since the release notes seemed to indicate (to my addled pate at least) that perspectives were being depreciated, but some of the API stuff seems to enhance perspectives.

In any case 7.0 does seem to have several imrpovements in how toolbars and icons can be selected and managed.

No, you can't have it!
