EA evaluation problem
« on: May 21, 2007, 12:51:36 pm »
I just downloaded EA, rebooted, and when I try to create new project I get "An error has occurred: Incorrect version of the DLL file 'MSJET35.DLL' ".  What did I do wrong?  :o

This happenend to me on one particular machine.

After trying a number of things (including re-instlling MDACs) the only thing that fixed it was a clean re-install of everything... :(

Sorry to not be the bearer of better news...

By all means try other remedies, but after a week of trying this and that, we took the more drastic solution.  If you can afford to, don't weaste your time trying to fix the problem, nuke it...

(We thought we didn't and wasted a LOT of hours - it turns out there are some catch-22s in this situation that inhibits some of the proposed solutions from working)

Does MS-Access work OK?

Another possible solution may be to enable JET 4.0 in the EA options dialog.  Open "Tools | Options", enable "Use JET 4.0" and restart EA.

HTH.

Actually haven't tried Access yet.  Just got this machine a week ago from the IT jockies in my company (SAIC), so it's got a standard image (which I don't want to fool with as it's technically not my machine ... besides it might void my warranty ... pun intended).  ;D

I'll call my HelpDesk buddies.  They are usually pretty good.  If I get a workable answer, I'll post it up here.

Cheers,
Steve

This too, was a standard image - but it was the only machine of 8 that had the problem...

We use Jet4 exclusively and setting/resetting the option didn't help (but it might in your case).

I have the same problem. I'm using the trail version of Enterprise Architect 7.0 installed in Windows 2003 SP1.

Did you find a solution to this problem?

I contacted EA support and this is the solution they came up with:

It would appear that the MSJET35.DLL file in the windows system directory has either been overwritten with an invalid version or has otherwise become corrupted.
You should first try to repair your EA installation and then try running EA again.  If this still produces the error, try switching EA to use JET 4.0 rather than the default JET 3.5 (see instructions below).

1. Repair your EA installation
 - Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
 - Locate Enterprise Architect in the list of installed programs
 - Click on "Enterprise Architect" in the list, then click the "Change" button
 - Highlight "Repair" and click Next, then follow the prompts.

2. Switch EA to use Jet 4.0
 - In EA, open "Tools | Options"
 - Enable "Use JET 4.0 - requires restart"
 - Click the "Close" button
 - Restart EA
