Alias for association roles ?
« on: July 24, 2007, 11:46:35 pm »
Hello,

in our SOA project, we´re using an EA model
for Problem Domain Modelling along with the
XML export feature. With this combination, we´re
able to keep Domain-Model and technical XML Schema
model in sync.

A problem we have is that the customer wants
to have German denotations while the XML Schema is kept
in English.

For classes, we use German aliases and show the aliases in
the Problem Domain diagrams; the original class names are
English.

Nowadays, the customer requests the definitions of all
roles in Problem Domain model. But the XML schema feature
hardly depends on the definition of roles as English element
names for sequences.

Roles don´t support the definition of an alias, so
what can we do ?

Kind regards
Bernd

EA 7.0 supports the definition of aliases on connectors and association roles.  (I also remember that support was added for parameters.  I'm not sure if it was added to anything else.)  In addition, support was added to show aliases for type classifiers.

So my recommendation.  Upgrade to EA 7.0.
