Undo Audit-Changes
« on: August 03, 2007, 12:10:51 am »
Hi again.
And another annoying question of me. ;D
I hope I'm not spamming this forum. (My questions are meant business)
Is it possible to undo changes with Audit? For example we have the version 1.0 today. And in 2 months are many changes done in the diagrams. Is it now possible to restore the version 1.0 when audit was enabled during that. Or does it only log and doesn't support restoring.

greets Daniel

No Daniel, you are not spamming the forum. No need to apologize.

Audit seems to be just that, an audit trail.

EA supports several popular version control implementations, including CVS, Subversion and MS TFS. Take a look at these.

First though, practice on a non-critical project. Then practice some more. Version control can be difficult to set up in any circumstances, and EA is no exception. Add to that the fact that the way a team uses EA is often subtly different than how they share development resources, and configuration issues can crop up all over the place.

Sparx has information in the Resources section of the forum. There is also a lot of discussion of this topic in the forum, including some great ideas on how to address specific requirements, and some really good how-to advice.

HTH, David
No, you can't have it!

Sure version control is one possibility. But you have to manage your packages and versions for that. For excample if someone deletes the wrong elements, they will be lost. Or if someone changes the layout. (We have currently hidden the operations. If you show them the whole layout changes because the elements size automatically and EA saves).  And then it would be great if you can undo the logged actions.
